This piece is a fully original 3D bust inspired by classical Roman portrait sculpture, created entirely from scratch as a personal challenge to push my skills as a 3D artist. Rather than replicating an existing work, the face, wrinkles, and character were built entirely from imagination, drawing on the realism and expressive detail of ancient Roman busts to give the piece a strong sense of age, history, and presence.
Beyond the sculpt itself, this project was also an exercise in UV unwrapping and environment design, both areas I wanted to strengthen. Careful attention was paid to creating clean, efficient UVs to support detailed texturing.
The final goal was photorealism: I wanted the rendered image to be difficult to distinguish from an actual photograph, from the texture and lighting to the material response of the skin and stone.
