Created in collaboration with the Sereno Fossil Lab, this digital illustration reconstructs one of the most emotionally resonant discoveries from Gobero: a mother and newborn interred together from the African Humid Period when the Sahara still supported a large paleolake and abundant wildlife.
Gobero is one of the largest known Holocene cemeteries in Africa, with evidence of repeated occupation. Developed as part of a broader project with the Sereno Fossil Lab, this piece relates the significance of Gobero as a place where early human populations lived and chose to bury their dead.
