Lifecycle of the Moon Jelly

May 2, 2026

The moon jellyfish undergoes one of the most counterintuitive life cycles in the animal kingdom, alternating between a stationary, anemone-like polyp and the familiar free-swimming medusa. This poster communicates each stage of that cycle.

The primary audience for this piece is aquarium visitors, a diverse group that includes families with young children seeking educational and visually engaging experiences, K–12 school groups on field trips, and seniors drawn to the calming observation of marine life.

The project’s goal is to make this biological process legible and engaging across that range. Beyond scientific communication, the piece is designed to evoke a dreamy underwater atmosphere that draws viewers into the world of the jellyfish rather than simply presenting facts about it.
