The Lungs & Associated Structures

This project presents a three-dimensional model of the human respiratory system, including the lungs, trachea, and thyroid cartilage, designed to give college-level anatomy students a clearer, more intuitive understanding of how these structures actually appear and relate to one another within the body.

The 3D model allows viewers to observe branching airway patterns, lobar divisions of the lungs, and the positioning of the trachea. The model also includes the larynx with the hyoid bone, epiglottis, thyroid cartilage, and cricoid cartilage.

Particular care was taken in the selection and rendering of materials to balance visual realism with structural clarity. Surface textures, color, and translucency were chosen to closely reflect the natural appearance of lung and cartilage tissue, while still keeping individual structures visually distinct and easy to identify.
