
This project involved sculpting both a high poly and low poly version of a human pelvis in Cinema 4D, with an emphasis on anatomical accuracy and efficient workflow. Given the complex, curved geometry of the pelvis, careful UV mapping was performed to ensure the model unwrapped correctly, preserving surface detail and avoiding distortion across its many contours.
The high poly version was then brought into Substance Painter, where realistic bone textures were hand-painted to capture the natural color variation, porosity, and surface detail of bone. A fracture was also painted onto the pubic symphysis to illustrate a clinically relevant injury site.
To keep the model lightweight without sacrificing visual detail, the textures created on the high poly version were projected onto the low poly pelvis back in Cinema 4D. This baking process transferred the fine surface detail, including the fracture, onto a more efficient model, preserving a realistic appearance without the performance cost of a high poly mesh.
